New Support for Deaf and Hearing-Impaired Patients

Published: 11 December 2025 · Practice news

We are pleased to share that our practice is now connected with Contact Scotland BSL, Scotland’s national British Sign Language (BSL) video interpreting service.

This service allows deaf and hearing-impaired patients to communicate with us easily and confidently through a qualified BSL interpreter.

How it Works

  • Patients can download the Contact Scotland BSL app onto their mobile device.
  • When they need to speak with the practice, they contact the BSL service through the app.
  • A BSL interpreter will then call our practice directly, introduce the service and the patient, and relay the conversation between us.
  • If we need to contact a patient who uses BSL, they must be registered with the service. We call a designated number that connects us to an interpreter, who will then contact the patient by SMS or email using the details the patient has provided to us.

This development makes our service more accessible and ensures that all patients receive clear, inclusive communication.
