Appointment System Changes
Published: 20 May 2024 · Practice newsFrom Monday 3 June 2024 we will be making changes to our appointment system. These changes arise from increasing demand and feedback from our patients. In making these changes we hope to further increase routine appointment availability and reduce waiting time for such.
From June 3rd the following will apply:
Booking of routine face-to-face appointments will not change. You will contact the Practice and ask for a routine appointment with a GP. If you are seeing a GP regarding an ongoing concern, we would always advise you stick with this GP for continuity. The reception team will still continue with signposting to ensure you are seen by the most appropriate healthcare provider (right care right place). Remember, accessing healthcare from the correct professional with the most appropriate skills will generally reduce your waiting time to be seen.
For medical issues which you feel cannot wait for another day you will be asked for details of your issue. Signposting to the most appropriate healthcare provider will still be in place as per Scottish Government Guidance, hence the receptionist will ask for this information. If, after signposting has taken place, it is agreed your issue requires a GP/ Nurse appointment on that day, you will then be offered a face-to-face appointment at the Practice. Telephone advice will not be available.
There will no longer be a telephone triage service in place.
Once all on the day appointments have been filled you will be asked to either:
- Call again the following day from 08.00hrs or
- If your symptoms worsen after 18.00hrs, and you cannot wait until 08.00hrs the next day to call the Practice, please call NHS 24 on 111.
Finally, we ask that you remain polite and patient with our team who are here to help you.
Thank you.
